SECRET? so what is your secret? Do you ever really know anyone?
Musically it was the most fun to record from Blue and Hazy (To be released in November) as it took on a life of its own. Shut your eyes and to me the audio sounds like the musicians are actually there with you in the room. The clicks and bangs were picked up in the roof mics as I tapped my foot, while recording the double bass and guitar. Leaving them is a sonic statement against the overproduction that I hear every day on TV and radio. The vocals, including the cough, shakers and cabassa were added in until it sounded right. It was important to me that the instrument appearances were kept real time and “edgy” and the guitar solo is deliberately slow and understated in order to keep the whole track grounded and focussed.
